August 12, 1990: Tyrannosaurus Rex Skeleton “Sue” Discovered
On this day in 1990, paleontologist Sue Hendrickson discovered the most complete (approximately 80%) and well-preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil skeleton found to date. The T-Rex, dubbed “Sue” after Sue Hendrickson, stands over 20 feet tall and 40 feet long on display at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, IL.
